Corker's visit
I treated Corker today, unfortunately Corker and his owner have had ill health which has meant they both are not riding. Corker had a treatment by the Chriopractor who advised he was unfit to be ridden due to his co-ordination. She also found pulled ligaments and muscles in his back which was causing the lameness. I treated Corker with nice relaxing Shiatsu and spent allot of time in his back area, Corker completely relaxed.

Dandy's Treatment
I visited one of my favourite horses to treat, dear Dandy. Considering the tempreture has dropped, it hasnt affected his weight or arthritis at all which I am really pleased about. He straight away let me work his neck area which he has never let me do which was an amazing feeling. He loved his treatment throughout and felt in tip top condition. I noticed a small lump in the inside of his back leg, I notified his owner to keep an eye on it. Shiatsu is a great way to notice changes small or big in the horses body due to the hands on approach.

Royal's 3rd Visit
Today I visited Royal, he looked in great condition, his coat was extremely shiny and he was at a good weight. I completed a general Shiatsu treatment which helps maintain a healthy horse. I noticed some slight tenderness in his back, I worked the area and the tenderness was gone by the end of the session. He had been ridden in the morning so I presume he had done it then but will take note and check this area on my next visit. Other than that he is in great shape and his aggressive behaviour is improving slowly.

Sage's Visit
Sage is a dear little pony who is very nervous. His owner was having issues with him in the school where he kicks out on one rein. She was concerned due to this and also wanted to continue competeing him in dressage. Considering Sage was a nervous pony I was amazed at how relaxed he became on the first visit, he let his guard down completely and excepted the treatment straight away. He was great at communicating with me. I found tender areas in his back which is probably causing the issues in the school. I checked the saddle and advised for them to have a saddler to look at it as it didnt look level, I also checked the posture of the girl who rides Sage and she has difficulty with the position with one of her legs. I suggested that they work on the straight and really concentrate on her posture in ridden work. I am going back in a months time to see how they progress.

Royal's 2nd visit
I treated Royal with a Shiatsu treatment today. Knowing his defensive behaviour from the first visit, I knew what to expect. He was great and relaxed more knowing what was coming. He was still very defensive on his off side, of which I will take note for his next treatment to start on this side. We booked the treatment to day before a big show to help him with his emotions. This is what his owners gave me as feedback after the show:

Yesterday Royal was extremely naughty in the ridden hunter...so much that we had to leave the ring. By the afternoon he was much calmer. We won the small riding horse, we won the championship and we also won the Balanced Horse feeds supreme champion, a total of 3 trophies, 2 sashes and £240. Not a bad days work. Thanks for all your help.

Even though the behaviour wasnt perfect, he still did very well in the afternoon, which is wonderful news!

Eddie's Visit
Today I treated Eddie, Eddie is a lovely TBx who does eventing. She has had previous issues with her hocks and is prone to stiffness in general. Shiatsu is a great way to maintain her through her work to keep her on peak form.

Katie's Visit
I treated Katie today, she is a 5 year old TB x Warmblood who is truely beautiful. She fractured her pedal bone and will be coming back into work in December. Her owner wants to event on her, Shiatsu is a great way to help recovery and assist in bringing a horse back into work to make sure the transistion goes smoothly!

Royal's Frist visit
I got called out for Royal for a behavioural issue, he is aggressive and bites, especially when putting on a rug, walking past his stable, and very spooky in the sandschool, his behaviour has even affected his ridden work and his owners are concerned about hit future prospects in showing. I recommended clicker training and discussed the way forward with him. After observing the behaviour I could see it was a space, attention and insecurity issue. We discussed setting up a pairbond and also how to use the clicker in every day life to communicate with Royal.

I felt positive that Royal was now on the right route and that his owners fully understood and now step in the right direction to a happier horse. Royal is a beautiful horse and is much loved by his owners which is lovely to see!

Pony Club Demo - Felbridge
Today myself and my collegue Solveig, another Shiatsu Practitioner, completed a demo for the Pony Club. This is our 2nd demo and it went brilliantly. We decided to focus on a more hands on demo, going through the theory on the last visit. The results were fantastic and everyone got stuck in, the horses enjoyed all the attention and relaxation especially after all the events. It was wonderful to see everyone participating and doing some great Shiatsu!

Corker's visit
Corker had unfortunately gone lame, even though he had improved he was still stiff in trot. Corker suffers with Arthritic conditions, due to this I kept the treatments to holding areas and working on points rather than asking for stretches and moving limbs about which could cause stress to the condition. I kept to his same treatment on this visit. I advised Corker's owner Chrissy to monitor his condition.

Dandy's Visit
Dandy as always is such a pleasure to do. He is doing really well and showing no signs of arthritis. He really enjoys his treatments and is great at communicating to me at what he wants. I am also making great progress with work on his neck and face, at the beginning of his treatments he wouldnt allow me near his neck. Even though Dandy isnt a touchy feely horse he loves Shiatsu which is a hands on treatment!

Izzy's Visit
Today I visited Izzy to give her a maintenance check, she had a treatment previously by an Osteopath and areas of tension were found. After a full review I started work. Izzy felt very tense on her neck just above her wither, I asked Zoe about this and she did say that the side reins that Izzy was using for lunging were on the short side so I recommended these to be lengthened. I spent the majority of the session working the neck and shoulder area, Izzy showed an amazing response to the shoulder work, her reaction was as though I had found a good itchy spot and she became very demanding, if I stopped she would position herself for more work in the area. I got this reaction on both sides, I showed Zoe how to do it and hopefully she will continue to do it between treatments.

Beau's 1st treatment
Beau is a beautiful chesnut gelding but has issues with his behaviour, he tends to be on the grumpy side and shows his behaviour through aggressive body language. The amounts of times through the session I though he was going to bit me was high but his teeth never did meet my skin. I went through the basics of behaviour with his owner, who has heaps of patience and only wants the best for her horse. I completed Shiatsu on Beau, 1st treatments are an introduction to the horse, but Beau responded hugely to it, even though he did show the aggressive behaviour he kept switching to a sedated state and by the end of the session his head was over the stable door, hung low with his bottom lip quivering, his owner was amazed and had never seen him like that before. I am going back at the end of July to treat again and to see if any changes to management has helped.

Strawberry Tart's Visit
Today I got a call from my friend asking if I could do an Equissage treatment on her eventing horse Strawberry Tart. She had tied up and her vet advised that Equissage would greatly help her. I got there and her body felt tense, which is to expected. I concentrated mainly on her back area, but did complete a full body Equissage treatment. She really enjoyed it and kept telling me which areas she liked the most by pushing into me. It was amazing when I did work her back area, she litterally raised her back so it was much higher than her wither, tailed raised, I had brought her into season! She did this through out the treatment. One of the more common causes of azoturia in mares is the hormonal effect of coming into heat (estrus).

Corker's Visit
I could see a huge difference in Corker this visit, his neck shape had started to change. I worked the Gall Bladder meridian as this is linked to muscles and with the work he is doing in an outline I thought this area was where he needed help. I got a huge reaction from this, the meridian was empty when I first started but by the time I had finished it was pushing me out, the biggest reaction I have felt while doing Shiatsu, an incredible feeling. He displayed lots of yawning and eyelids flickering. He was allot more relaxed with me today and he knew what to expect, as soon as I placed my hands on his back he went into relaxation mode. Even a big lorry parked the otherside of the lane and due to his sight issues noises worry him, he was slightly concerned at first but relaxed straight away.

Dandy's Visit
Dandy is always such a character and I really enjoy treating him. I managed to complete Shiatsu on his face today but only for a short period, but we have come far considering his first treatment he wouldnt allow me to touch his neck! He loved his ears being worked and his poll area. I found another favourite spot for Dandy and that was underneath his stomach, he loved this being worked, lowering his head right down to the floor. I will see if I get the same reaction next time. His arthritis is doing really well at the moment and hasnt shown any signs of stiffness which is fantastic.

Corker's Visit
This was Corker's second visit and he was allot more relaxed. Even though it had only been a couple of weeks since his previous visit I could notice some changes. His back arthritic area felt warmer and the tighter areas felt looser. He was still slightly weary of me due to his sight so I expanded the treatment from the previous visit and worked on his back area mainly.
